National Energy Action (NEA) is the leading national fuel poverty charity operating across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and with our sister charity Energy Action Scotland, to ensure that everyone can afford to live in a warm, dry home. We undertake various activities to address the causes and treat the symptoms of fuel poverty.
There are currently around four million UK households in fuel poverty, struggling to heat their homes to the level needed to stay warm and comfortable. We believe that everyone is entitled to live in a warm home regardless of their income, and work in partnership with central and local Governments, energy industry, local authorities, health services and a huge number of other agencies to achieve this mission.
Through various projects and research undertaken by NEA, we understand that fuel poverty is rarely a condition suffered in isolation; it is very often accompanied by other health or social issues that exacerbate all the problems an individual may have. NEA’s mission to eradicate fuel poverty not only helps solve fuel poverty itself, but gives people control and well-being in other areas of their lives where they may be vulnerable.
One beneficiary from our ‘Better at Home’ project said; “I don’t think I would have survived the side effects of chemotherapy this winter is my house had been as cold as it was last year before the new boiler was installed.”
