The Nehemiah Project work with vulnerable men who always have some form of addiction, but are also often homeless, have mental health problems, or are ex-offenders. Our programmes helps 30 individuals each year address the root causes of their addictions, although we are about to open a new home and double capacity. We educate our residents about motivation, self-care & living skills, how to improve their mental & physical health, manage money, build relationships (particularly with their families), & ultimately gain employment to help rebuild their lives.
Our success rate is such that in the last 5 years, only 5% of those we have supported have returned to their former addiction, or prison within a year of leaving our homes – it is hard to keep track of them after that time – but they know our doors are always open if they need support. This compares with a London wide re-offending rate of 50% plus within the first twelve months of a person being released. We give people a chance and really do make a difference. Thank-you for your support.
